Product Measurements

Make your furniture delivery easier by confirming your new piece will fit comfortably into your home. To help you prepare, our product pages include two important measurements: the item’s dimensions and the packaging dimensions.

These measurements help you plan the delivery route and decide the best location for your furniture before it arrives. Below, you’ll find guidance on the additional measurements you should take.

Be sure to consider the full size of the item, including its overall width (W), depth (D), and height (H).

Measuring Your Space

Measuring Your Space

Once you’ve chosen where your new indoor or outdoor furniture will go, carefully check the surrounding area.

Make sure the space is clear of anything that could interfere with placement, such as electrical outlets, air vents, or light switches.

PRO TIP: Add an extra 1–2 inches to your measurements to allow for easier positioning and a better fit.

Doorframes

Find the main entry point to your home or apartment. Also check for any alternate entrances, such as a back door, garage door, or side entrance, that may be used during delivery.

Measure each doorway’s height, width, and diagonal clearance between the door jambs.

Hallways

Check the delivery path for any potential obstacles, such as stairs, ceiling lights, landings, or narrow hallways between the entrance and the final placement area.

Measure the lowest ceiling height or any overhead obstacles along the route.

For each hallway, measure the height, width, depth, and diagonal clearance to make sure there is enough space to angle, tilt, or rotate the package if needed.

Stairs

When delivering a sofa or other large furniture item, stairs can be one of the biggest challenges. To make sure the piece can be moved safely and easily, take the following measurements:

Measure the narrowest area of the stairway, such as the space between railings.

Check the clearance from both the top and bottom steps, especially if there are low ceilings or overhead obstacles.

Measure the height and width of each landing to confirm there is enough room to turn or reposition the item.

Consider whether the sofa may need to be tilted or angled while moving through the stairway. Measuring the sofa’s diagonal dimension can help determine whether this method will work.

Elevators

When arranging for a delivery that will require elevator access, it’s important to take a few measurements to ensure a smooth process.

Measure the height and width of the door opening.Measure the interior depth of the elevator (from the door to the back wall) and its width (from one side wall to the other). This will help determine how much space is available for your items. For larger items, measure the diagonal depth—this is the distance from the bottom corner of the door to the upper back corner of the elevator.
