MidinMod is committed to digital accessibility. Good design should work for everyone, and we believe the experience of discovering and purchasing our furniture should be usable and welcoming to all customers, including people with disabilities and those who rely on assistive technologies.

Our commitment

We are committed to ensuring that people with disabilities have full and equal access to the information, products, and services offered on our website. We treat accessibility as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time project. As we add products, update our storefront, and refine the site, we work to identify and remove barriers that could prevent anyone from browsing, evaluating, or completing a purchase. Accessibility considerations are part of how we design, build, write, and maintain our online experience.

Standards we follow

Our accessibility efforts are guided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG is the internationally recognized technical standard for web accessibility and is the benchmark most widely referenced in connection with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Our work is also informed by:

WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the most recent iteration of the guidelines, where its additional success criteria can further improve the experience.
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which establishes accessibility requirements for electronic and information technology.
The general accessibility expectations set out under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it applies to places of public accommodation.

The four principles of accessibility

WCAG is organized around four principles, often summarized as POUR. We design and evaluate our site with each of them in mind:

Perceivable — Information and interface elements must be presented in ways users can perceive. This includes text alternatives for meaningful images, sufficient color contrast, content that does not rely on color alone to convey meaning, and text that can be resized and reflowed without loss of information.
Operable — Interface components and navigation must be operable. This includes keyboard access to interactive elements, visible focus indicators, logical navigation order, descriptive link and button text, and avoiding content that could cause difficulty for users with motion sensitivities.
Understandable — Information and the operation of the interface must be understandable. This includes clear and consistent navigation, predictable behavior, readable content, and helpful labels and instructions on forms and interactive controls.
Robust — Content must be robust enough to be interpreted reliably by a wide range of user agents, including current and future assistive technologies. This includes using valid, well-structured markup and appropriate accessible-name and role information.

Conformance status

WCAG defines three levels of conformance: A, AA, and AAA. MidinMod is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that most of the site meets the standard, while some content or functionality may not yet fully conform.

Because our storefront draws on third-party platforms, applications, and content, some elements are outside our direct control. Where that is the case, we work with our providers to close the gap and to offer accessible alternatives in the meantime.

Accessibility features of our site

Measures we take to support accessibility include:

Semantic, well-structured HTML with a logical heading hierarchy and reading order, so that screen readers and keyboard users can navigate content efficiently.
Text alternatives (alt text) for meaningful product photography and imagery, so that non-text content is available to assistive technologies.
Sufficient color contrast between text and its background to support readability for users with low vision or color vision deficiencies.
Information conveyed through means beyond color alone, so that meaning is not lost for users who cannot distinguish certain colors.
Keyboard operability for interactive elements — including menus, buttons, links, forms, and the shopping cart — so the site can be used without a mouse.
Visible keyboard focus indicators, so users can see which element is currently active.
Descriptive, meaningful link and button text that makes sense out of context, rather than vague labels such as "click here."
Labels, instructions, and error identification on form fields to support successful completion.
Appropriate use of WAI-ARIA roles, states, and properties where native HTML semantics are not sufficient.
Responsive layouts that reflow and remain usable across desktop, tablet, and mobile screen sizes, and that support content resizing and zoom.
Respect for user preferences such as reduced motion, where supported.

Compatibility with assistive technologies

Our website is designed to be compatible with recent versions of major web browsers and with commonly used assistive technologies, including screen readers and screen magnification software. Accessibility depends in part on your own technology; for the best experience, we recommend using a current browser and keeping your assistive software up to date. Older browsers or unsupported configurations may not support all accessibility features.

Technologies we rely upon

Accessibility of our site relies on the following technologies working with your browser and any assistive technologies you use: HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS, and JavaScript. These technologies are used to support conformance with the accessibility standards described above.

Evaluation and ongoing testing

We assess the accessibility of our website through a combination of methods, which may include automated accessibility testing tools, manual review, keyboard-only navigation checks, and evaluation of key pages and workflows. Accessibility is considered as part of our design and content update process, and we periodically review the site to identify issues and prioritize remediation. Because our storefront and its content change over time, this is an iterative process rather than a fixed endpoint.

Third-party content

Some content and functionality on our site is provided by third-party platforms, plugins, and applications — for example, embedded media, financing tools, customer reviews, and other interactive widgets. While we select providers with accessibility in mind and encourage them to meet recognized standards, we do not control the accessibility of all third-party content. Where third-party elements present barriers, we work to identify alternatives and to obtain the information or assistance you need through accessible means.

Known limitations

Despite our ongoing efforts, some limitations may remain. Areas we continue to monitor and improve include third-party widgets, embedded media, customer-generated content, and certain interactive features. Content may also temporarily fall out of conformance after updates before it is identified and corrected. If you encounter a barrier that is not described here, we want to know so that we can address it.

Continuous improvement

Digital accessibility is an evolving standard, and our website is regularly updated. We are committed to reviewing new and existing content against recognized accessibility guidelines, correcting issues we identify, and improving the overall experience over time.
